The Back to Angola Festival commemorates the Angola Maroon community that existed at the Manatee River circa 1790 - 1821. Come celebrate the history & culture with descendants of those who forcibly migrated to Red Bays, Andros in The Bahamas.

March 15: 12 noon- 8pm

Enjoy Onsite Workshops in woodcarving , basketweaving and Junkanoo all afternoon. 

Experience Tours to nearby Reflections of Manatee Museum, featuring the Archaeology of Freedom exhibit about the excavations that located Angola.

1pm Opening Ceremony

3pm Panel Discussion (Descendants, Archaeologists, Historians, Community Leaders)
